BTA QUADRUPLES TOURNAMENT
Saturday April 16, Beach Tennis Aruba will try out a new tournament format in which people from different levels play together, and tactical choices must be made!
TEAMS
Each team must register 4 players (4 men, or 4 women, not mixed) from 4 different levels.
The men’s and women’s doubles levels of the Spring League 2022 are deciding, if a player is currently not playing a league, the last played league is the deciding.
The men’s tournament has 2 categories, the women’s tournament has 1 category.
MEN’S TOURNAMENT CATEGORY 1
- 1 player from level 1 (A)
- 1 player from level 2 (B)
- 1 player from level 3 (C)
- 1 player from level 4 (D)
MEN’S TOURNAMENT CATEGORY 2
- 1 player from level 5 (A)
- 1 player from level 6 (B)
- 1 player from level 7 (C)
- 1 player from level 8 (D)
WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT
- 1 player from level 1 (A)
- 1 player from level 2 (B)
- 1 player from level 3 (C)
- 1 player from level 4 & 5 (D)
If a team is unable to find a player from a certain level, he/she may be replaced by a player from a lower level.
For example: if a team can’t find a level 2 player, he/she may be replaced by a player from level 3 or lower.
FORMAT OF PLAY
Teams will be placed in groups of 3 or 4 (depending on the number of registrations). Groups of 3 will play on one court, groups of 4 will play on 2 courts.
Matches consist of best of three sets till 6, with a tie-break till 7 at 6-6 (3rd set always in group play, if necessary, in knock-out rounds).
The first team of each group will play semifinals, with the same format.
GROUP PLAY MATCHES
1st set: Player A & B
2nd set: Player C & D
3rd set: Any combi that has not played yet (A & C, A & D, B & C or B & D)
In groups of 3 teams, each player is allowed to play only ONE 3rd set.
In groups of 4 teams, two players are allowed to play a SECOND 3rd set in the last match of the group, but in a combi not previously used so far!
SEMIFINAL AND FINAL MATCHES
1st set: Player A & B
2nd set: Player C & D
3rd set: Only if necessary! By any combi that has not played yet (A & C, A & D, B & C or B & D)
